Organizational Culture: Simplified

How do you know if your team is behaving in a way that is “healthy?”  A lot of thoughts may come to mind, but in our intensives we explore the ways our hearts can answer this question. After all, our heart tells us what we care about.  Our hearts also let us know when we’re not being fully honest with ourselves and others.  In fact, how much could you tell about a team or organization by answering these two simple questions:

What do people care about?

How honest are they?

Do people care mostly about themselves and their career trajectories?  Do they care about each other?  If so, do they just care about each other’s performance - or also each other’s well-being and safety?  Do they care about their personal results and/or some bigger purpose behind the work?

How honest are they - with themselves?  With each other?  Are they honest about their opinions or also what they’re feeling and experiencing?

Whether it’s greater equity, retention, or core results - it will be an uphill battle if there’s not a strong foundation of care and honesty.  But think of the potential if there is.

And, we can start with ourselves.  The next time you are faced with a hard choice or situation, try asking yourself “am I coming from a place of care” and “am I being truly honest”?  You can’t control how people receive you, but if the answer to these two questions is “yes” … do you really need to?
